A cock ring is worn at the base of the penis, and sometimes behind the balls as well. It holds blood in the penis for longer, which many people find makes an erection feel firmer. Choosing the right size and material is the part that matters most.
Materials
- Silicone. Soft, stretchy and comfortable, which makes it the best material for a first ring. It is easy to put on and take off.
- Stainless steel. Firm and does not stretch, so the size has to be right. Not a first choice.
- Leather with snaps. Adjustable, but harder to clean and less durable.
How to size one
Measure the circumference of the base of the penis with a soft tape or a piece of string, then check the ring's stated inside size. A ring should feel snug but never painful. If you are not sure, buy a multi-pack, like the OXBALLS Gearheads 5-pack, and try several sizes. The jumbo Fat Willy rings give a looser fit.
How to put one on
Use lube on the ring and on yourself. Put it on while you are only partly erect. It is much easier than when fully hard.
How long can you wear one?
Medical guidance is to keep a ring on for no longer than about 30 minutes, and to take it off sooner if anything feels wrong. Never fall asleep wearing one.
Take it off if
- Your skin turns pale, blue or cold.
- You feel numbness, tingling or pain.
- You are unable to ejaculate and want to stop.
Who should check with a doctor first
If you take blood thinners or have a circulation or blood condition, speak to a doctor before using a cock ring.
